I'm using three journals at the moment. The leather-wrap unlined Bombay journal from B&N is one of those that I used a wood rasp to roughen and soften the page edges, giving them more the appearance of hand-pulled paper. I use it as a chronicle of events, a true "journal", with occasional emotional notes or responses. But it is primarily a record for me of my life unfolding. The Laurel Burch "The Kiss" lined Paperblanks is my sexuality journal, where I explore and study sexuality in general and my own in particular. Writing things out has led to some deeply revealing discoveries about myself, as I continue to evolve. The third journal is a lined Peter Pauper Press notebook, used for immediate and unmoderated reaction to whatever's going on with me at the moment. It's a safety valve, profane, messy, and non-linear. I make no attempt to be lucid or coherent. Sometimes you just have to get it out. Once it's down on the page I can come back in a day or a week, and see where I can do work to control my own responses and reason.
In other news, I recently bought a cache of new old stock Longmeadow Press blank books, and spent an hour glueing coordinated-color satin ribbon bookmarks into the bindings. Click pictures to embiggen.
