Date: 2010-12-10 10:07 pm (UTC)Lishie.
2. How old are you?:
Immature teenager in an adult's body. :P
3. How long have you been journalling?
Close to a year now - the longest I've ever kept a paper journal. I'd tried and failed to numerous times as a child.
4. Do you write or do art in your journal - or a mix of both?
A bit of both, but most of it's writing now.
5. For the arty-types, what kind of art do you do in your journal (paint, collage, doodle, etc)? Which pages are you particularly proud of?
I do like to collage on occasion, and paint too. As of recent, I do like the right page on this photo. It was the first time I'd collaged in a while, and it was for Halloween.
6. For the writey-types, what do you write the most about (daily life, beliefs, politics, etc)? Do you like your handwriting?
I write a lot about my daily life. Currently there's a lot to let off steam about - I'm in university, so I'm living away from home and with a bunch of other students. And, as you do, you get into the odd disagreement :/
7. Give me three reasons why you love to journal.
Reason one - it's something creative outside of university work. Reason two - it's a great place to vent frustration and celebrate happy occasions. Reason three - it's very therapeutic and keeps me sane :D
8. Do you collect anything for your journal (deco tape, stickers, scrapbooking papers, etc)?
The cover of my fifth journal is getting a fair collection of stickers to it. Apart from that I haven't really started a collection as of yet.
9. What are your hobbies other than journalling?
Steampunk, knitting, taking walks, listening to music (all types), drawing, painting, reading, forums, the Internet.
10. Are you looking for other journalling friends here on DW?
If you like the sound of me, sure. :D
11. If so, what can someone expect to find in your DW journal? Anything they should know about upfront?
I'm part of a multiple system (functional), and occasionally talk about politics. I also can get very ranty about personal life happenings, and can get a bit sweary. As long as you're cool with that, I'm sure we'll get along fine.
12. What do you enjoy the most about a journalling community?
I'll admit, I'm a nosy bugger. I like to read what other people write in their journals - everyone has a different daily life, and I find it fascinating. I also like seeing how other people keep their journals, it's all very inspiring :)
13. Anything else you'd like to share?
Nice to meet everyone!

Date: 2010-12-11 03:07 am (UTC)2. How old are you? older than I look
3. How long have you been journalling? At least fifteen years; my journalling has taken many forms, on-line and off and including audio tapes, for a brief period when I was nine.
4. Do you write or do art in your journal - or a mix of both? Yes, and then some. I keep some journals that are all text, some that are all sketches, some that are words and collage...
5. For the arty-types, what kind of art do you do in your journal (paint, collage, doodle, etc)? Which pages are you particularly proud of? I pretty much stick to sketches and collage in journals.
6. For the writey-types, what do you write the most about (daily life, beliefs, politics, etc)? Do you like your handwriting? depends on the book. I have a book of ritual outlines and religious poetry that I'm keeping in a large book intended for scrapbooking; I have several composition books for divination, song lyrics, fiction....
7. Give me three reasons why you love to journal. It's cheap, it's easy, it's portable and doesn't need to be plugged in.
8. Do you collect anything for your journal (deco tape, stickers, scrapbooking papers, etc)? Again, depends on the book, but I generally keep picking up drawing pencils, scrapbooking papers, glitter
9. What are your hobbies other than journalling? Define "hobbies".
10. Are you looking for other journalling friends here on DW? Yes.
11. If so, what can someone expect to find in your DW journal? Anything they should know about upfront? I can be kind of obnoxious, and while I'm a strong extrovert, by nature, there are some parts of my life I've learned to be fiercely private about. Most of my DW journal is locked down, to some degree or another, and I'd prefer it if people who want to add me kept that in mind. That said, about 85% of what gets posted is stuff I would rather create an illusion of privacy about — like, if what I post about happened to, say, Johnny Depp or Zac Efron, maybe some of the skankier tabloids would jump on it and the majority of people wouldn't really care [I really don't get people who don't treat their own on-line journalling like this], but it's my illusion, and I like it.
12. What do you enjoy the most about a journalling community? I can't say; this is my first.
and finally ...
13. Anything else you'd like to share?
Not really. That's about all I can think of, for the moment.

Date: 2010-12-11 05:36 pm (UTC)I’m going by ‘valley’ on DW, I guess
2. How old are you?:
19 years young
3. How long have you been journaling?
On and off all my life; I picked it up again when I was about 15 or 16 and have been going slow but steady since then.
4. Do you write or do art in your journal - or a mix of both?
I’m mostly text-only, but I like to paste/tape in ticket stubs, fortunes from cookies, etc.
5. For the arty-types, what kind of art do you do in your journal (paint, collage, doodle, etc)? Which pages are you particularly proud of?
6. For the writey-types, what do you write the most about (daily life, beliefs, politics, etc)? Do you like your handwriting?
I keep a journal mostly for my memory. I don’t really have a great long-term memory, and I don’t remember events very well; so I write about daily life, in case I want to go back and remember the big and small things in life.
I like my handwriting. If I work too hard to make it nice, it looks unnatural and it takes forever—so my writing is really sloppy, but as long as I get it all out, I’m okay with that!
7. Give me three reasons why you love to journal.
Getting it all out of my system; feeling productive at the end of a filled journal; and the extra privacy something not-online can give me :)
8. Do you collect anything for your journal (deco tape, stickers, scrapbooking papers, etc)?
I use small stickers to separate entries, instead of going on to a new page or just skipping a line. Currently I have farm animal, kitty, Scooby-Doo, star, smiley face, Spongebob, and other various stickers for this :D
9. What are your hobbies other than journaling?
Avoiding homework, learning history, watching movies and TV shows…and reading. Not much besides that! (I know, I’m boring)
10. Are you looking for other journaling friends here on DW?
I’m up for making friends, as long as you don’t mind if I don’t comment on every entry you make. Most times I just don’t have anything to say.
11. If so, what can someone expect to find in your DW journal? Anything they should know about upfront?
My DW account is private—I’m using it as a kind of scrapbook for cool links, instead of cluttering up my Firefox bookmarks. No one but me will be able to see most of my entries, so any interaction we have will be in communities or on your journal.
12. What do you enjoy the most about a journaling community?
Inspiration!
13. Anything else you'd like to share?
I’m boring, but friendly! Haha…no, really.

Date: 2010-12-11 10:13 pm (UTC)2. How old are you?: 31
3. How long have you been journalling?: Since I was in my teens but I just joined dw

6. For the writey-types, what do you write the most about (daily life, beliefs, politics, etc)? Do you like your handwriting? I usually write about my depression or what is upsetting me
7. Give me three reasons why you love to journal.
I journal to keep track of events in my life, to express how I'm feeling when I can't express it any other way, and to be creative
8. Do you collect anything for your journal (deco tape, stickers, scrapbooking papers, etc)? Stickers, colored pens
9. What are your hobbies other than journalling? Photography, reading, listening to music, and jus recently started drawing
10. Are you looking for other journalling friends here on DW? Sure
11. If so, what can someone expect to find in your DW journal? Anything they should know about upfront? Nothing so far LOL!!! I just created my account
12. What do you enjoy the most about a journalling community? It's a place that allows me to say how I feel and the paper doesn't judge me
and finally ...
13. Anything else you'd like to share? I'm not like anyone else you will probably ever meet.

Date: 2010-12-18 10:36 pm (UTC)2. How old are you?: physically 22, but mentally and emotionally it varies
3. How long have you been journalling? ...on and off since about 5 but we seem to fall out of journalling a lot (motivation where are you?)
4. Do you write or do art in your journal - or a mix of both? a little of both, more writing
5. For the arty-types, what kind of art do you do in your journal (paint, collage, doodle, etc)? Which pages are you particularly proud of?
mostly doodles and collage. don't currently have a journal -- hoping to restart this year again.
6. For the writey-types, what do you write the most about (daily life, beliefs, politics, etc)? Do you like your handwriting?
a little of everything, and the handwriting thing varies -- I like my typeset print handwriting, not so much any of my other styles, but I only ever write in typeset print if someone has to be able to read it...
7. Give me three reasons why you love to journal.
1. Journals don't judge
2. I like being able to look back at stuff going on
3. It's just sort of a safe space.
8. Do you collect anything for your journal (deco tape, stickers, scrapbooking papers, etc)?
stickers mostly
9. What are your hobbies other than journalling?
reading, creative writing, working on learning how to make pixel/animated graphics, playing echobazaar (and other online RPG-type things),
10. Are you looking for other journalling friends here on DW? yes
11. If so, what can someone expect to find in your DW journal? Anything they should know about upfront?
a lot of subjective reality stuff, a lot of religious syncretist discussions, a lot of mental health and daily life whining, fanfiction, some of which is not work safe and of course memes. (Journal's mostly open, so you can take a look and see some of the stuff I write).
We identify as a plural system, so you'll see "i/me" and "we" change spots a lot. :)
12. What do you enjoy the most about a journalling community?
prompt shares a lot of the time make me happy.

Date: 2010-12-19 04:43 am (UTC)2. How old are you?: 27
3. How long have you been journalling? On and off since I was quite young.
4. Do you write or do art in your journal - or a mix of both? Both.
5. For the arty-types, what kind of art do you do in your journal (paint, collage, doodle, etc)? Which pages are you particularly proud of? Usually collage and doodling.
6. For the writey-types, what do you write the most about (daily life, beliefs, politics, etc)? Do you like your handwriting? Daily life, poetry scraps, ideas for stories, prompt responses, making lists.
7. Give me three reasons why you love to journal. I love having a tangible record of stages of my life to look back on, I love keeping my creative mind fuelled, and I love making lists.
8. Do you collect anything for your journal (deco tape, stickers, scrapbooking papers, etc)? Articles, quotes, photos, recipes, scrapbooking oddments and ephemera, whatever catches my eye.
9. What are your hobbies other than journalling? Knitting/crochet, reading, papercrafts, making jewelry, being pretty (that's a bit of an in-joke, but I do spend a lot of time doing makeup and contemplating my ever-evolving wardrobe).
10. Are you looking for other journalling friends here on DW? Sure!
11. If so, what can someone expect to find in your DW journal? Anything they should know about upfront? I'm pretty random. Most of my posts are about work/daily life, then I'll suddenly do a link post or bitch/squee about an episode of one of my shows or tell a story apropos of nothing.
12. What do you enjoy the most about a journalling community? This is my first one, so I guess I'm about to find out.

Date: 2010-12-21 09:16 pm (UTC)no subject
Date: 2010-12-22 09:37 pm (UTC)2. How old are you?: 22
3. How long have you been journalling? On and off since I was young, though I've been more diligent in recent years.
4. Do you write or do art in your journal - or a mix of both? I prefer to keep my art and writing in separate journals, but I'm hoping to start mixing things up a little.
5. For the arty-types, what kind of art do you do in your journal (paint, collage, doodle, etc)? Which pages are you particularly proud of? In my art journal, usually sketches or doodles; in my journal-journal, I've started adding ticket stubs and other things of interest for inspiration.
6. For the writey-types, what do you write the most about (daily life, beliefs, politics, etc)? Do you like your handwriting? It's usually a recap of events in my life, though occasionally it ends up being plots and ideas for stories I'll never write. And no, I'm not particularly fond of my handwriting - it's gotten worse over the years. :S
7. Give me three reasons why you love to journal. It gives me a place where I can be utterly truthful, I can record my thoughts and days in minute detail that would bore others to tears in an online journal, and I can be more freely/easily creative than on a computer (I'm not all that computer-literate).
8. Do you collect anything for your journal (deco tape, stickers, scrapbooking papers, etc)? Just recently, ticket stubs and other papery things I accumulate throughout the day.
9. What are your hobbies other than journalling? Fashion design, drawing, world-building, reading.
10. Are you looking for other journalling friends here on DW? More friends are always good.
11. If so, what can someone expect to find in your DW journal? Anything they should know about upfront? I ramble a lot? My journal's completely flocked, so a good deal of my entries tend to be of the rantish nature - no one in RL I'm ranting about will be able to stumble across it. I don't post there very often, either.
12. What do you enjoy the most about a journalling community? Inspiration
and finally ...
13. Anything else you'd like to share? I've never done a journalling challenge before, so this should be interesting.

2. How old are you?:
28
3. How long have you been journalling?
Since I learned how to write, but I'm the kind of person that stop for months (or years) and them start again.
4. Do you write or do art in your journal - or a mix of both?
Both. I see handwriting as a kind of drawing too.
5. For the arty-types, what kind of art do you do in your journal (paint, collage, doodle, etc)? Which pages are you particularly proud of?
I made whatever is possible with the materials near to me.
6. For the writey-types, what do you write the most about (daily life, beliefs, politics, etc)? Do you like your handwriting?
what was in my mind, but a lot of art ramblings and literary things. Much of what I'm seeing in the world around me. I don't like a lot my handwriting because the dysgraphia turn things a little bit harder in this subject - I'm not a calligrapher and I'm not able to write long texts with a legible letter.
7. Give me three reasons why you love to journal.
I can carry it with me, is a good way to document and remember, and is fun and cathartic.
8. Do you collect anything for your journal (deco tape, stickers, scrapbooking papers, etc)?
anything bright captures my sigh. I love all the things you can find in a paper store. But pens and stickers are special.
9. What are your hobbies other than journalling?
I play RPG and hang around with the science fiction fandom.
10. Are you looking for other journalling friends here on DW?
Yes, and who knows even future pen pals.
11. If so, what can someone expect to find in your DW journal? Anything they should know about upfront?
Doodles, a lot of drawing and collages, some conceptual art and a lot of quotes, both in english and portuguese (my mother language).
12. What do you enjoy the most about a journalling community?
this one is my first... I don't know.
no subject
Date: 2011-01-13 09:15 am (UTC)2. How old are you?: 24
3. How long have you been journalling? Since I was a kid, but I've always been bad at doing it every day. Trying to remedy that by taking this challenge.
4. Do you write or do art in your journal - or a mix of both? I've written for a long time, though I used to do some arty-type stuff. Getting back into that now.
5. For the arty-types, what kind of art do you do in your journal (paint, collage, doodle, etc)? Which pages are you particularly proud of? Doodling for the most part, though in one of my journals there is one page covered in nailpolish. I used to paint things with nailpolish a lot. I'd liked to get into collaging.
6. For the writey-types, what do you write the most about (daily life, beliefs, politics, etc)? Do you like your handwriting? Daily life stuff, wasting pages trying to sound profound in case anyone ever finds my journal and holds it up saying "Look! This is the journal of the amazing author Katje van Loon! I'm sure it will be full of pages of life-truths and wisdom and not strings of endless profanities!", my religious life, a lot of stuff about sex, ADD ramblings. And I hate my handwriting.
7. Give me three reasons why you love to journal. a) it's a great addition to my anti-depressants. b) it offers me a place to tell those secrets I promise I'll never tell. c) I get to buy pretty books to cover with my chicken-scratch.
8. Do you collect anything for your journal (deco tape, stickers, scrapbooking papers, etc)? I used to. Not so much anymore. Big thing was tickets -- I'd paste in movie or concert tickets and write about the event.
9. What are your hobbies other than journalling? Knitting, crochet, writing other stuff, video games, reading a lot, trying to make it through my university degree, watching movies, going dancing.
10. Are you looking for other journalling friends here on DW? Sure, why not? :)
11. If so, what can someone expect to find in your DW journal? Anything they should know about upfront? I swear like a sailor and write about pretty much everything -- most things that you'll be able to see in my access list include rants about politics, talking about my daily life, and random little asides. Generally speaking I keep the more crazy/in-depth/NSFW stuff underneath filters.
12. What do you enjoy the most about a journalling community? I've never been in one before this, but so far I like the fact that it exists and is kicking my butt to actually journal.
13. Anything else you'd like to share? I'm a big fat geek and I'm proud of it. ;P
